Using the Five Elements to Get Along with Anyone
May 20, 2014
The May 2014 European Post Class
Open to the public
Taught by Vicki Matthews, EEM-AP
It’s clear that one of the greatest challenges humans face is getting along with each other. On a global level, the presence of non-stop warfare across history testifies to our failure at peaceful coexistence. On a civil level, our packed courtrooms bear witness to the fact that conflict is ever-present. More personal still, whether interacting with a mate, sibling, child, or friend, we all know our relationships can be fraught with complications and misunderstandings. And yet, we are all human, all fundamentally the same. Why is getting along so hard?
The answer lies in the simple truth that, at an energetic level, we really aren’t all that similar. We have different energy affinities that affect how we act in relationships. Basically, these energies drive our relationships. If we work with our energy affinities, we can have peace in the kingdom. If we work against them, well, what we see is what we get.

The energy dynamics of human relationships are summarized in the brilliantly simple Five Element Model from Traditional Chinese Medicine. This model can predict our interaction styles, our emotional tendencies, the ups and downs of our relationships, why we often repeat the same uncomfortable patterns again and again, and how to change all that. In this hands-on class we will explore the inevitable ways human energies interact, practice energetic ways to create happier and more harmonious connections, and learn to attract the kinds of relationships we want. Extensive handouts will be included.
